Richie H - new contract
To be fair, Bournemouth have risen above their off-the-field financial problems and produced some good results both at home and away in recent weeks.
But they are nowhere near being one of the strongest teams in League One, and after their home flop against Northampton last weekend, Pools – and manager Danny Wilson (right) – badly need to get things right on the road, for a change.
Draws at Northampton and Cheltenham are all Pools have to show from away games in recent months, and that just isn’t good enough for a team that had three away wins under its belt before the season had even warmed up.
Hovering above the danger zone, Pools will hopefully be too strong to go down, but they could also have reasons to be grateful for points being docked from teams below them to help keep them out of trouble.
Richie played his 300th game for Pools against Northampton and has been with the club since 2001. He was even invited to Buck House in recognition of playing a record 234 consecutive games for the club.
If only they all gave as much and had as much dedication as him.
Fans have probably been spoiled in recent seasons when, apart from the relegation season under M****n S***t, they’ve been fed a constant diet of promotions and play-off heartache.
So they won’t be satisfied with the sort of mediocrity they’ve been served this season, and no at all happy with the sort of cock-ups that gave Northampton their win a week ago.
Sam Collins serves the last game of his suspension, so Michael Nelson and Graeme Lee will probably continue at the heart of the defence, but Wilson has problems to solve elsewhere as he sits down to pick his team.
