Town manager Paul Jewell is proud of his players despite the 3-0 defeat against Arsenal in the Carling Cup semi-final second leg last night

It took the Gunners over an hour to break Town's defence but a goal from Nicklas Bendtner was soon followed by one from Laurent Koscielny and the win was sealed by Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas with 13 minutes left to play.

Jewell: "The players were terrific and I can't praise them enough for their effort over the two legs, they pushed a world class team all the way. Arsenal were getting a bit edgy and if we could have held on for another 10 minutes then who knows.

"The players are disappointed in the manner of the goals and letting in two so quickly together was always going to make it difficult.

"It opened the game up and they got a third but we didn't collapse and the players can be proud of their efforts.

"They were up against a brilliant side in a brilliant stadium and they got to within 30 minutes of Wembley."
