Pim Talks Going Well
By Aston June 11 2008
Town manager Jim Magilton says talks between Town and Dutch defender Pim Balkestein are going well and the club is still on course to name a new international scout.
The 21-year-old defender had a trial at Town towards the end of last season and a fee has since been agreed with Heerenveen for him, talks about personal terms are going well according to Jim and both Pim and a new international scout are expected soon.

Jim: "Talks are going well with Pim and hopefully we can get things tied up quickly and get him in the building, we are also in the final stages of appointing an international scout to work alongside our chief scout, Steve McCall.

"The new man should be confirmed by the end of the week and that will open up other avenues for us to explore for players abroad."

Re: Pim Talks Going Well
I think Pim could come good in the end. He is tall and apparently good in the air and can score the odd goal too. The down side is that he gets red carded also. Once within 57 minutes of a reserve game, when he got two yellows for reckless challenges. which according to the fans was the reason they lost at home, in a knock out competition to Quick Boys this season.
I hope Ipswich tie things up quickly and continue their proud Dutch legacy that goes all the way back to 1979 but Balkestein is one for the future in my view having never played for Heerenveen's first team so far sadly.

Just been confirmed that he's signed a 2 Year Deal. At last, A centre back has been signed.
