Sheepshanks Looking Ahead
By Aston May 6 2008
Town Chairman David Sheepshanks has already set his sights on promotion next season, saying that Town's promotion bid starts now.
Town missed out on the play-offs this season by just a single point after Watford managed to draw with Blackpool on the final day, but Sheepshanks is fair from downhearted.

Mr Sheepshanks: "Our promotion bid for 2008/09 starts now, and if it is not next season then the one after we will be looking to be cast-iron certainties.

"Manager Jim Magilton is away at the moment looking to improve his squad and along with his backroom team has the full backing of owner Marcus Evans and everybody else at Ipswich Town.

"It was a fantastic atmosphere on Sunday and a great performance and result.

"But unfortunately other results did not go our way.

"Of course we are disappointed at not going up after going so close to the play-offs. It is our goal to reach the Premier League.

"But we will be stronger for this season's efforts and are looking ahead full of optimism.

"Nobody is down at Portman Road.

"Marcus Evans is very happy with how everything is going and with new players coming in during the summer we are in good spirits and looking ahead to successful times."
