Socceroos coach expects Kewell to turn up

Australia coach Frank Farina believes Harry Kewell will be fit to play for the Socceroos in their friendly against England at Upton Park on Wednesday.
Kewell missed Leeds' 1-0 victory against West Ham with a hamstring injury but Farina was upbeat about the player being ready for Wednesday night.

He expected all his 18-man squad to report to their camp in Essex on Sunday in preparation for the game - including Kewell.

"I'm expecting him in camp and it's as simple as that," said Farina.

"I've heard nothing at this stage that he won't be playing. He's coming into camp and as far as I'm concerned he's okay. Harry's confident he's okay."

If Kewell - or any other player - were injured, Farina stressed that he would not risk them in a friendly.

"It's not in our interests or anyone's interests to play anyone who isn't fully fit, we've got long-term interests of our own as well," Farina said.

"I'm just hoping everyone will be right when we get into camp. I haven't heard anything from anyone yet, so that's a good sign."
