Stan Lazaridis says talks did take place over a possible swap deal involving himself and Leeds United's Michael Duberry.

But the Australian international says he is happy to stay at Birmingham City.

His contract expires at the end of the season and he wants to stay in England for another couple of years.

He told Birmingham's official website: ''There was an opportunity to go to Leeds, who are a big club, and I have played under Terry Venables before.

''But, to be honest, if Birmingham decide at the end of the season they want me to stay then there isn't an issue.

''It is only if they are going to release me then it would be a good move for me.''
