Crewe could cash in early...

Murmurs are rumbling around Eastland’s that Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is close to tabling a combined bid of over £5’000’000 to lure teenage wonder kids Nick Powell and Max Clayton to the City of Manchester stadium.

Max Clayton, England. Powell and Clayton, both still only 16 years of age, caught Mancini’s eye whilst representing England at the recent Under 17 European Championship. The England Under 17 starlets are already highly regarded as outstanding prospects. Crewe boss Dario Gradi has been quoted that the pair could be the best players yet to come from Crewe’s infamous production line.

Although Gradi is certain to want to oversee the development of the pair, Crewe could look to cash in now that Manchester City have entered the frame. The Alex board have previously rejected bids from Arsenal for Powell and blocked an illegal approach from Liverpool for Clayton. However City’s ‘unlimited’ funds could prove too tempting to turn down.

Striker Clayton has yet to make his first team bow whilst Midfielder Powell has now made a handful of substitute appearances so far this season.

There speaks the ill informed, these players are not for sale and are contracted to Crewe for 4 years. Gradi has already stated they are not 4 sale at any price. What part of that do you not understand. They will go when it benefits the club and the player, how do Powell or Clayton benefit by playing in City's youth team when they could be playing at a higher level in crewe's first team. Never heard so much nonsense.
