Cisse celebrates goal

Papiss Cisse scored his 11th goal of the season to give Newcastle manager John Carver his first home win and leave Aston Villa in the bottom three. Senegal striker Cisse fired a low shot beyond Brad Guzan from eight yards after Daryl Janmaat's cross. Tom Cleverley missed Villa's best chance before Ayoze Perez hit the post with a header for Newcastle.

Krul and Cisse being the crucial players, Krul being solid in the net, saving alot of good shots such as Beteke's over head kick and Tom Cleverly's shot from a few yards away from goal. Cisse gave us the victory after he buried the ball into the net before half time and was serviced by Janmaat. Haidara was brought off the pitch on a stretcher after pulling up (Carver describes Haidara's injury as an "ongoing issue") was brought off on the 61st minute and replaced by Ryan Taylor who played very well in my opinion.

Tim Sherwood who has been managing the midlanders since 14th February and has yet to earn a point at Villa, they have not scored in six away games making it their seventh loss in a row. Villa who were very desperate for their first win, were given 16 fouls throughout the 90 minutes also Villa have only scored 3 goals in the last 12 matches putting them 2nd from bottom inside the relegation zone.

Overall, the possession was 50/50. Aston Villa had periods of controlled possession but Newcastle created better chances even though it was a very tense match for both teams, we managed to put away a goal and gain the 3 points which puts us 11th, 5 points away from Crystal Palace.
