The French National side have denied any part in the groin injury which could see Yohan Cabaye sidelined for up to 6 weeks if he requires surgery. Earlier this week Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew confirmed the injury after the midfielder missed out against Swansea City at the weekend.
Now the French Football Association have taken steps to distance themselves from the problem, stating that Cabaye turned up for training carrying the injury. In a statement they said;
"Following a communication suggesting Yohan Cabaye was injured in training with France before Italy-France, which could result in his unavailability for several weeks.
The staff of the national team wishes to clarify: the Newcastle player arrived injured at Clairefontaine. He obviously has not played a single minute of France - Italy."
Pardew also made reference to the problem after the clubs game against West Ham, which begs the question, why travel in the first place?
