Duff Backs Managing Duo Hughton & Calderwood
By Tyne-Talk
July 17 2009
Newcastle United midfielder Damien Duff has praised the management duo Colin Calderwood and Chris Hughton who have continued to manage the team through difficult circumstances and uncertainty.

He told the official site, nufc.co.uk;

"Chris and Colin have been thrown in at the deep end but they are totally focussed on the job. They are two great guys and all the lads respect them.

They have put on a tough pre-season but it's been good and I'm sure we'll reap the rewards of that. Its difficult circumstances but they are both very professional and the players respect them for that.

Of course we'd like to see the situation sorted but for the time being we all have to be professional and get on with the job of preparing for the new season."

Talking about tomorrow's pre-season friendly against Darlington Duff added;

"I think this game will be tougher than Shamrock Rovers. We've had another tough week after Dublin and it's good to have a game at the end of it. This is a local derby and they'll be wanting to win.

We'll all be looking forward to it and it should be another good workout."

Unless the players are going to strike, they need to get over it, it is just as bad for the fans who want this resolved.

It's good to see Duff come out and say something positive, nobody is blaming the 2 coach's, there just worried about the 2 being in charge come the start of the season

Exactly. I appreciate their service-that seems to be the thrust of what Duff says. He never says that he thinks they can do a job during a league season. Those are my sentiments as well.
