Porto Eye Gutierrez Loan Deal
By Tyne-Talk
June 27 2009
Jonas Gutierrez has caught the eye of Portuguese Champions Porto, however, they are only interested in a season long loan with the option of extending that to a fulltime contract next summer. Gutierrez who joined Newcastle in July 2008 on a 5 year deal from Real Mallorca started well for the club but appeared to have less on an impact as the season progressed.

He was also Kevin Keegan's first signing of that summer.

When he joined Newcastle he expressed his pleasure at moving to the Premier League and made it his goal to show the Newcastle fans what he could do. However, with Newcastle playing in the Championship next season and no clarity as to the running of the club, it is likely that players on big money will be sold on.

As a result a loan deal will not be what Newcastle are hoping for and Porto who are said to have already approached Newcastle and requested confirmation of the players availability, have expressed their frustration at hearing nothing from the club.

Re: Porto Eye Gutierrez Loan Deal
Seems a bit stupid to try and loan him out when we stand the chance of selling him, there will be plenty of clubs out there who would be intested in buying him.

If we couldn't sell him then the loan deal may be the only option as they would be paying his wages not us

I would rather sell him. I doubt Porto would pick up his full toon wages so no doubt we would have to subsidise them which I wouldnt like to do.

We will be able to get a few million quid, so better to sell and re-invest the cash

Re: Porto Eye Gutierrez Loan Deal
The Portugese teams arent exactly loaded with money which is perhaps why they want a loan deal to give them time to scoop some dosh together.
I'd much rather keep him
