NUFC Express Interest In Kyel Reid?
By Tyne-Talk
June 13 2009
Newcastle United FC are reportedly interested in out-of-contract winger Kyel Reid of West Ham. The 21 year old is said to have caught the eye of several Premier League and Championship clubs including, Burnley, West Brom, Middlesbrough, Birmingham and Newcastle.

Reid's deal with West Ham expired at the end of the 2008/2009 season making him available on a free transfer. With Newcastle United in turmoil, big summer signings are currently out of the question, at least until a manager is appointed.

Who is he?

Reid joined West Ham in 2004 as a scholar and made his first team debut in 2006. The 5'11 midfielder joined Barnsley on loan during the 2006/07 season where he made 26 appearances for the Championship side. He returned to West Ham for part of the 2007/08 season, where he made 4 appearances and signed a new contract before being loaned out to Crystal Palace in March 2008. Reid made 2 appearances for Palace before moving on to Blackpool on loan in the 2008/09 season where he started 7 games and was a substitute in 2 more. In January 2009 he moved, again on loan, to Wolverhampton Wanderers where he made 9 appearances before the season came to an end.

In May of this year he told Sky Sports;

"I'm due to go back to Upton Park at the end of the season and we'll see what happens with them first before I can think about anything else in terms of moving.

I'd love to go back and be told that I will be given a chance at West Ham, but football is cruel sometimes.

Mick hasn't spoken to me yet about whether I am in his plans for next season or not, but we will probably talk about it before I return to West Ham, so nothing is certain yet."

Re: NUFC Express Interest In Kyel Reid?
how can nufc be interested in buying players. There is no one at the club the doors are shut we have no manager no assistant manager just a coach that does his best but that has been proved as being not good enough. so if any one at the toon is interested there wont even be anyone there to discus contract terms or even give him a medical, so this has to be complete fantasy made up by a paper boy. Or maybe even more misschief by a makum fan

If he is any good - why on earth would he want to come to Newcastle?

Club up for sale, no Manager, no budget, no structure, no plan of action... get your head out of your a.r.s.e. mate.

We are up s.hit creek until the club is sold.

The other question - Why has he been on loan to so many places?

Because he's no good I suspect. Hate to knock him before he's even arrived though. If he does. The fact that he only played 9 times at Wolves in 5 months isn't exactly encouraging either. Maybe our friend the comedian can help us out here?

See no reason why we'd want him.
