Tandy To Sue Barton
By Tyne-Talk

Newcastle United's Joey Barton looks set to face ANOTHER legal battle after former Manchester City team-mate Jamie Tandy began his bid for civil action to be taken. Barton was fined 3 weeks wages (£60,000) by Manchester City in 2004 after stubbing a cigarette out in Tandy's eye, at the time no charges were brought.

Tandy was later released by Manchester City after breaking his leg whilst out on loan and ending his professional playing career.

Tandy has now decided to sue 3 and a half year after the incident, claiming that as well as being physically scarred, the incident has sent him on a downwards spiral resulting in a suicide attempt.

His solicitor said:

"Mr Tandy is a client of ours and we are in the process of launching civil proceedings.

As a result of the assault by Joey Barton our client has suffered a major psychiatric deterioration in his health that has destroyed any chance he may have had of playing professional football at a high level.

Understandably this is a high-profile case and at this stage we are unable to comment further."

Whilst Barton's agent Willie McKay refused to comment stating:

"I only deal with football matters and do not wish to comment."

Tandy himself said of the move:

"Has been a long time coming, I don't see why he should get off scot-free while I'm left with nothing."

Re: Tandy To Sue Barton
Looks like Bartons past is coming back to haunt him.
Cant say I have any sympathy for him (Barton).
