Newcastle Look To Larsson & Kapo

Newcastle United have been told to forget it as far as Sebastian Larsson is concerned, as Birmingham City have no interest in selling the 23 year old midfielder. Larsson is seen as an ideal replacement for James Milner who has been repeatedly linked with a move away from the club since the season ended.

The Birmingham number 7 joined the club in August 2006 on a loan deal from Arsenal, but impressed them so much the transfer was made permanent in January 2007. Newcastle have apparently already made a £4.7million bid for the Swedish Under 21 International but have now been told to stay away.
With Birmingham having dropped down into the Championship and Newcastle offering first team football in the Premier League, City could struggle to keep their midfielder who also plays at full back should he be required to do so.

Newcastle United are also said to be interested in Larsson's team-mate Narcisse-Olivier Kapo-Obou or Kapo for short and may be prepared to pay up to £5million. The French International made 26 appearances for City last season and scored 5 goals. Birmingham are reported to be allowing the 6'2 midfielder to leave the club this summer in a bid to reduce their wage bill.

Kapo would be a no from me, but Larsson could be a useful squad player and still young. And as much as Birmingham would like to think they could keep him I don't think he could turn down a move to back to the Prem.

Larsson has been quality at the Euro. I wouldn't mind seeing him in stripes at all. Birmingham is just making noise in an attempt to raise the bids. They can't keep him and they know it-hell the BFC board would admit they don't want to pay him if they were honest.
