Keegan To Offer Milner New Contract
By Tyne-Talk June 11 2008
Kevin Keegan's team have slapped a £7million price tag on 22 year old James Milner in a bid to fend off the interest of Liverpool. Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez is said to have offended the club with his advances, such as offering players with no proven value for the winger.
Milner who has 3 years left on his 4 year contract with the club is also still a firm favourite with Aston Villa who are quietly waiting in the wings for Liverpool's interest to dwindle, Villa are reportedly prepared to pay £7-8million for their former loan star, double the original asking price of 2 seasons ago.

Milner made 25 league starts for Newcastle in the 2007/2008 season with 4 sub appearances and 2 goals.  Manager Kevin Keegan is said to be happy with the players input and performance and is hoping he could interest Milner with a new contract prior to the 2008/2009 season starting.

Should Liverpool up their interest and make a serious bid for the Under 21 International which is accepted Milner would be the 6th player to leave the club this summer.

Yeah he is near being a certainty to making English squads in the future so I can see why he has a 7mil price tag.

I guess Pennant is the non-entity referred to in the rumors about this deal. I'd call that a fair assessment. We don't want Pennant. I could live with a straight swap for Babel, though.
