Dawson To be 1st Secure Senior Signing For Keegan?
By Tyne-Talk March 25 2008
Rumour has it that Kevin Keegan is leading the battle to sign Tottenham Hotspur defender Michael Dawson once the 2007/2008 season has ended and the transfer window is wide open (but only if Newcastle stay up). Keegan is said to be looking at bringing in 6 or 7 new faces before the 2008/2009 season gets under way, with some of Newcastle's squad departing to make room.

Dawson is out of favour with Spurs manager Juande Ramos, with Jonathan Woodgate and Ledly King making the starting lineup ahead of him.

Dawson is intending to reques a transfer from White Hart Lane should his chances of playing diminish further. Unfortunately for Dawson they may do just that as Ramos is keen on signing Daniel Jarque from Espanyol to cover Woodgate andKing.

Dawson nearly became a Newcastle player in 2005 under Sir Bobby Robson who held the 24 year old in high regard. This time round Keegan has the backing of owner Mike Ashley and has already been given the go-ahead for a summer shopping spree. Tottenham are likely to demand 6M for Dawson who has been at the club since 2005.

Keegan looks set to rebuild his side once the season is over, and despite Dennis Wise and Tony Jiminez's roles regarding recruitment at the club, Keegan will get the final say over any player who comes under his wing.

Despite all transfer rumours being based on the probability of Newcastle remaining in the Premier League next season, Keegan and the players remain optimistic.

You must be having a laugh. He is terrible and definitely the weakest link in the Tottenham Hotspurs team. Every time I watch spurs play he seems to be the reason they concede a goal.

Surely Keegan is not looking at this guy?
