Chimbonda On The Move?
By Tyne-Talk March 21 2008
Pascal Chimbonda's agent Roger Boli has revealled that Newcastle United's offer for the Frenchman was genuine but due to their league performance nothing happened. Boli confirmed Chimbonda plans to start talks with Tottenham but as of yet nothing has happened.

Boli said:

"We expect to discuss a contract extension for Pascal when the season ends,

We will see what the possibilities are with the club. Everything will depend on Spurs' directors. It's up to them to decide if they want to keep him or not.
I'm optimistic in both options: The first one would be Pascal being offered a new deal and the second one would see him being transferred by Spurs.

I know they want to keep him. Newcastle's offer was serious, but they are in a bizarre situation right now and I don't know if Kevin Keegan will stay at the club next season so let's wait and see."

Chimbonda has previously rocked the boat at White Hart Lane when back in January he refused to maintain the position of centre half in order to solve a defensive crisis.

He said at the time, when represented by Willie McKay:

"I am shocked that the club have made offers for two right backs. I realise they have signed an exciting new defender in Gunter and also made a bid for Alan Hutton.

I am essentially a right back and although I don't mind playing in central defence to help out my team, my proper position is right back. When I asked why the club had signed a new right back and moved for another one I was told they wanted me to play in central defence and I just laughed."

So if Spurs fail to instigate talks then Chimbonda may be available. Is he a player you would like to see in a black and white shirt?

I Would like to see him here to be honest i know he is a bit of a mercenary but Beye & Chimbonda fighting for right back would be great

We really need to think about a couple of centre backs & a right back first though
