No fewer than five of this year's academy prospects have been offered professional contracts at The City Ground.
Those that have been offered deals are Mark Byrne, Karlton Watson, striker Tom Mullen, goalie Zannettos Mytides and right back Kieron Freeman.
Karlton Watson won Forest's Young Player of the Year award for the campaign just finished and is apparently similar to academy product and Premiership star Michael Dawson in the talent stakes.
Mark Byrne spent last season on loan with Rushden & Diamonds and has scored seven goals.
The academy has also produced such gems as Jermaine Jenas, David Prutton and Andy Reid, whilst famously releasing Sean Wright-Phillips.
This means that there is some hope for those that have not been offered deals - Shane Redmond, Jordan Fairclough, Jean Biansumba, Danny Elliott, Tim Hopkinson, Sean McCashin, Carl Sibson, Matthew Sykes, George Thomson, Max Wright and Tony Diagne.
With Forest no longer deeming themselves to be a selling club, it will be interesting to see how we fare whilst retaining our greatest young assets over the course of the next few years.
