Match Preview: Glovers v. Daggers

return to action

Yeovil Town welcome Dagenham & Redbridge to Huish Park this weekend hoping to build on their FA Cup victory.

This will be the Glovers first League One game since last Tuesday, where they wound up 3-2 losers at MK Dons.

Terry Skiverton has spoken about building on their FA Cup First Round victory as they look to remove themselves from the bottom four in what could be labelled a relegation six pointer with the Daggers lying just one place beneath Yeovil.

A victory for the Green and Whites would see them pull away from Dagenham & Redbridge by six points, and depending on other results, possibly pull out of the bottom four.

Hoping to help achieve this will be full-back Nathan Smith and central defender Stefan Stam, with both players likely to return to the match day squad.

Current left-back Nathan Jones has impressed since being called into first team action, assisting three goals in his three game stint in the side, meaning Smith may have to wait for his return to the action.

After recovering from a gluteus muscle injury Stefan Stam is likely to make the bench, with the Glovers having doubts over Luke Ayling, who continues to struggle with a rib injury.

In addition, Yeovil welcome back play maker Gavin Williams who was refused permission to play in the FA Cup clash, with the midfielder having just four games left for Yeovil before his loan spell ends in early December.

Visitors Dagenham will be without goalkeeper Tony Roberts and defender Scott Doe, who both have ankle injuries.

However, the Londoners are likely to hand debuts to new loan arrivals Kayledon Brown and Medy Elito, who arrive from West Bromwich Albion and Colchester respectively.

Dagenham & Redbridge were late arriving in League One, having to gain promotion in the Play-Off final defeating Rotherham 3-2 at Wembley. As of yet the Daggers are yet to adapt to life in League One, claiming just two wins in fifteen games thus far.

Likely to be starting for the Daggers on Saturday is ex-Yeovil player Gavin Tomlin, who joined them in the summer after having a contract extension offer withdrawn by manager Terry Skiverton:

"With Gavin (Tomlin) I made him an offer, he accepted it and was then umming and ahhing over it so I withdrew it and told him to go elsewhere."

Yeovil haven't claimed a victory in League One since the visit to Rochdale on the 9th of October, a slip in form which has seen the Somerset outfit plummet into the depths of League One.

Tickets are available for the game up until kick-off, with kids being given admission for a pound. Or you can listen to the game on BBC Radio Somerset 99.5FM.
