Di Matteo puts contract talks on hold

Dons manager Roberto Di Matteo will hold no further talks with out of contract players - until the division the club will be competing in next season has been decided. With most key players tied up to new deals, the group waiting on new contracts will be forced to prove their worth to the Italian in this season's final few games.

Most of the players yet to renew their deals are those who have been in and out of the first team this season, but there are still some notable names on this summer's expiry list.

Jemal Johnson has been mysteriously dropped from the first eleven and then the squad entirely in recent weeks as questions surround his future at the club after what has probably been the best season of the American's career. Earlier in the year Jemal confirmed he wanted to stay at the club but told the local press his agent was yet to agree terms with the club on a new contract.

Carl Regan, Alan Navarro and Miguel Llera have all played fairly regularly and are out of contract this summer while both Ali Gerba and Luke Howell have emerged as key players in recent weeks and are similarly waiting on an extension to their current deals. Mark Wright is another that has found himself back in the manager's plans recently but still has doubt over his future at the club.

Defender Danny Swailes, a key player in Dons' League Two winning side, has made only one league appearance this season due to injury and will have to prove his fitness to earn a new deal. Tore Andre Flo is believed to be on a pay-as-you-play deal and so could stay on as a backup option, or even in a coaching capacity, despite limited opportunities this term.
