Former Hillsborough wing wizard Brunt all-but sealed West Brom's fate - and gave Wednesday a helping hand at the same time - in their Monday night 1-1 draw with Southampton in which Brunty bagged the levelling goal for the Baggies.
And the Northern Irish international was part of the West Brom side that lifted the Championship trophy at Loftus Road as the Baggies ran out 2-0 winners over QPR to finish top of the pile.
It was less spectacular for former Republic of Ireland Under-21 skipper Whelan, who moved to Stoke City in the January transfer window, but he wouldn't have been bothered as he was part of the side that held Leicester City to a 0-0 draw to send them down - and send the Britannia Stadium club up to the top flight.
Owls' boss Brian Laws revealed that had Whelan stayed at S6 for the rest of the season, Wednesday could well have faced a tougher battle against relegation, with the Owls god then unable to bring any loan players in to the club.
Well done and good luck to both Chris and Glenn next season! Hopefully we will join you soon!!!!!
