Defeats for both clubs at the weekend as both Barnsley and Crewe lose 2-1 on the opening day of the season but now both sides have to put that behind them and look to the cup. Will Barnsley be out of a cup by the time the home fans even get to see them this season? Let's see what a Crewe fan from www.crewealex.co.uk thinks of their prospects.
Are you confident of victory against the Reds?
No
What sort of game do you expect?
Lots of chances. But we will have some as well. Good reception for Foz.
Which of our players are you most worried about facing?
Brian Howard
Who should we be worried about from your team?
Antony Elding's predatory instinct; Joel Grant's wing trickery; not being able to score past Steve Collis our goalkeeper
What line-up are you expecting Steve Holland will field? And what line-up would you prefer to see?
The team will be Collis. Woodards, Jones, McCready, Baudet, Grant, Rix, O'Connor, Schumacher/Bailey, Zola (if fit) otherwise Pope or probably Moore, Elding. Most fans would like to see Pope play, some (including me still think Moore has potential); I don't think anyone wants Miller to play up front.
What is your opinion on being allowed to name 7 substitutes in these seasons League Cup?
Think it should happen more often (would help my FM teams); it might help us give our academy players more time with the first team squad if it happened in the league.
How well do you expect to do in the league this season? And what do you think to Barnsley's chances in the Championship?
I think Barnsley are to the Championship what Crewe are to League One. I think we will both stay up but not achieve a lot else. I hope I am wrong though (not about staying up)
What do you think of Barnsley manager Simon Davey?
Seems to have done a good job. Good cup run and you look like being a solid lower half Championship team (All smaller clubs can ask for realistically). We did it for 8 years
Anything else to add?
We will play our first team. It is a relatively new team which is still lacking in a couple of areas. A poor central defence, questionable left back and a powder puff Centre midfield. If you play to your full game then you should win. Otherwise game on!
