Yeovil 1, Charlton 1; Ten Man Addicks Claim a Point

Akpo Sodje Scores
By Nick Blackbourn
November 28 2009
Charlton come back from being both a man and a goal down to claim a credible point at Yeovil.

Swirling wind and rain had a big impact on this fixture. Yeovil benefited from the wind in the first half and were able to create chances on the Charlton goal. A through ball to Ryan Mason led to a desperate challenge from Sam Sodje with 28 minutes gone; a red card was an easy decision for the referee.

Charlton would go into half time not just a man down but a goal down as well. Jonathon Obika scored Yeovil's goal on 42 minutes, giving the Addicks a tough challenge to get something from the game in the second 45.

Parkinson's men, however, were equal to the task and dominated from the restart. Half time substitute, loan striker Akpo Sodje, made his presence felt quickly, scoring with a vicious drive from 30 yards in the 55th minute.

Despite mounting pressure and the wind behind their backs, ten man Charlton were unable to snatch a win. The game finished a draw, and given the atrocious conditions and a numerical disadvantage for over an hour, this can be considered a good result for the Londoners.
