Captain Bailey Scored
A bright start from Charlton forced Exeter goalkeeper Oscar Jansson into a number of smart saves. However, a clever finish from Nicky Bailey after 43 minutes finally eluded Jansson, putting the Addicks ahead at halftime.
A goal down, Exeter unsurprisingly attempted to right the deficit after the break; a close range header from Archibald-Henville went just over the bar and a goal was ruled out for offside. Izale McLeod scored his first of the season to put the home side two goals ahead and seemingly secure the win three minutes before the end.
A stoppage time goal from Exeter's Cozic made McLeod's effort a match-winner as Charlton claimed their seventh win of the campaign. Leeds' last minute winner against MK Dons meant no change in position for League One's top two.
A welcome win against Exeter maintains the excellent start to the season and we currently represent a daunting fixture in League One at the moment; long may that continue. Our settled side has set high standards for itself and, if these performances are maintained over the season, we will certainly be in contention for promotion.
Tuesday's trip to fifth-placed Colchester will present an interesting test for this Charlton side. Weston Homes Community Stadium will be a tough place to visit and alongside Parkinson's return to an 'unwelcoming' former club, the Addicks will certainly be pushed for the full ninety minutes.
How long can we continue the unbeaten streak?
