Hull V Portsmouth match report:Johnson Sees Red In Stalemate

Hull and Portsmouth played out a 0-0 draw at the KC Stadium on Saturday afternoon, a result that does neither sides hopes of avoiding the drop. T he draw leaves Hull in 15th with 34 points and only 5 points clear of the relegation zone. Portsmouth are 16th on 33 points only 4 points off the drop.

Peter Crouch had the first effort of the afternoon, although he volleyed well wide of Matt Duke's goal. Portsmouth created a better chance on 12 minutes when Dawson's poor clearance only found Johnson on the right touchline. He crossed for Crouch, but he could only head straight at Duke. Hull's first attempt came in the 20th minute when Geovanni  dragged his shot wide from 20 yards. Manucho then went close, volleying Mendy's cross just wide. on 36 minutes Portsmouth should've taken the lead when Crouch nodded a corner on for Younes Kaboul, but with Duke committed, the Pompey defender could only head over.

Half Time: Hull 0-0 Portsmouth

Hull's 1st real chance of the second half came from q Mendy cross, but Barmby couldn't get high enough at the back post to get his header on target. at the other end, David Nugent headed over from a decent position. Another chance came the home side's way when Kaboul's back header fell short, but Fagan couldn't get enough height on his header as James managed to push the ball to safety.

With 11 minutes left to play Glen Johnson was sent off for a late tackle on Dean Marney, Johnson was already booked and to be honest you could see the second yellow coming.However with 10 men Portsmouth still had a chance to win the game in the final moments of the game but Hermann Hreidarsson's header come back off the post.
