Happy Christmas...but bring on Boxing Day!!

Tuncay set to start
By James Knowles

PottersNet would like to wish everyone a very Happy Christmas as we look towards the Boxing Day fixture at Manchester City.

Boxing Day is a special day on the football calendar, and a trip to Manchester City is a mouthwatering prospect for all Stoke supporters.

Roberto Mancini takes charge of his new side for the first time, and he faces a defensive crisis.

Nedum Onuoha, Joleon Lescott and Wayne Bridge are all injured, while Micah Richards is a major doubt. Add Emmanuel Adebayor and Shaun Wright-Phillips to the potential injured list, and Stoke's task is looking rather easier.

However, when a side can call upon Robinho, Tevez, Santa Cruz et al then it is never going to be easy.

Stoke have a near fully fit squad to choose from, although Ryan Shawcross is likely to rest until Monday's clash with Birmingham as he continues to struggle with his groin injury.

Despite that, Danny Higginbotham is likely to lose his place in the side to Robert Huth, who returns from a one match suspension.

The midfield line up could well see the return of Rory Delap in place of Glenn Whelan. That would enable Dean Whitehead to move into a more familiar role in the centre of the park alongside Salif Diao.

Mamady Sidibe is expected to continue upfront alonside Tuncay.

PottersNet prediciton: Another attacking Stoke away performance, and Tuncay will give the Potters the lead. However, a thumping strike from Robinho five minutes from time will set up a nail biting finish. 1-1.

Likely Team:

Thomas Sorensen
Andy Wilkinson
Abdoulaye Faye
Robert Huth
Danny Collins
Rory Delap
Salif Diao
Dean Whitehead
Matthew Etherington
Mamdy Sidibe
Tuncay Sanli
