Summer signing Michael Tonge has gone on record saying he is all for helping Stoke City win against Tottenham on Saturday, despite the possibility of having a massive payment from West Ham. Tonge who signed from Sheffield United on deadline day could receive thousands of pounds in compensation following the tribunal of 'Sheffield United V West Ham re: Carlos Tevez'. The blades are claiming the move cost them £30m as Tevez ineligibly played keeping West Ham in the league and sinking there club in the process.

All the players lost out as relegation cost them wages and bonuses, but also some there job as the couldnt afford to keep all there top players. Tonge has explained he is keeping on eye on things but his main focus is with his new employee and doing well for Stoke. This must a first a modern day footballer putting the club before money well done Michael.

"I am not entirely sure what's going on with the West Ham thing. I am a Stoke City player now and I am trying to help us do well this season. But my thoughts on the Sheffield United-West Ham thing are that if the club is paid then that is basically saying something was wrong. They wouldn't be giving them £30m for nothing. Sheffield United lost out, as did the players. Time will tell what will happen, but it was a messy situation which should have been sorted out some time ago. They tried to brush it under the carpet, but it is only right for the game and those involved that this shouldn't happen."

"Over the last couple of seasons I have played 90 per cent of the time in central midfield. But I have played on the left before so it is just a matter of getting used to it again. The manager has us all really well organised and that has shown in our games. We haven't won as many as we would have liked, but the fact we are well organised is going to be very important. We've had to come through a tough set of games. They are all difficult at this level, but these have been really tough. Now, if we continue to play as a team, you will be surprised how effective that can be. We have some good players going forward and we have to try to give the strikers more support than we have been doing. Sheffield United had a really good record against London teams at Bramall Lane that season. We beat Fulham, Arsenal and West Ham there, as well as Tottenham. This will be a big game for both teams. Spurs will try to play their stuff, but hopefully we can match them."
