Celtic fail to sign James McFadden from blues

James McFadden
By Wayne Shingler June 21 2008
Celtic have today failed in their bid to sign James McFadden from Birmingham City. The bid was made up of £5.5million cash plus central defender Bobo Balde for the Scottish striker. Chairman David Gold insists that James McFadden is not for sale and will not be allowed to leave the club.

When Birmingham got relegated at the end of last season, McFadden came out in the media and pledged his future to Birmingham.

McLeish has already stated that needs the likes of McFadden and Seb Larsson to stay with blues to achieve promotion back to the premiership this season.

Chairman David Gold today told the media: "James McFadden is not for sale. We want to keep our best players to help us try to get back to the Premier League as quickly as possible."

So for now at least, it looks like McFadden is staying a Birmingham player.
