Whilst Ecuadorian midfielder Segundo Castillo (Red Star Belgrade), Mexican defender Ricardo Osorio (Stuttgart) and Fulham's Northern Irish midfielder Steven Davis possible arrivals during the summer break.

The rumour mill is working overtime surrounding David Bentley's potential move away from Ewood Park as numerous suitors are apparently preparing bids for the unsettled England star. However new Rovers’ manager Paul Ince is reluctant to see the winger leave, with Aston Villa and Spurs reportedly seeking the winger’s services next season. Bids in the region of £10million are expected to be rejected by the Blackburn board, who value Bentley at in excess of £15million after an impressive season for club and country last term.

There is talk of Swedish international Sebastian Larsson being lined up as a possible replacement for Bentley, with Larsson’s agent Per Jonsson saying: “Blackburn is a club that could be really good for Seb…Maybe it'll happen…Clearly there will come a point when they make contact but I still haven't talked to them”.

Ecuadorian international Segundo Castillo, is also thought to be a potential target for the new Rovers’ boss who is understood to be interested in bringing the Red Star Belgrade midfielder to Ewood for around £5million.

Rovers have also been linked with Ricardo Osorio, a 28-year-old Mexican international currently plying his trade in the German Bundesliga with Stuttgart. The right back has made fifty-three international appearances and is expected to cost Blackburn less than £2million.

Paul Ince has also expressed a strong interest in securing the services of Northern Ireland international midfielder Steven Davis from Fulham. After an initial bid being rejected by the former Rovers’ manger Roy Hodgson, Blackburn are believed to have upped their bid to £3.5million.

Meanwhile, skipper Ryan Nelsen has been given special dispensation to captain New Zealand for their first two games in the Olympics in Beijing.
