Simon Grayson; Next Leeds Manager

Grayson to Leeds
By Mike Smith
December 21 2008
Well it was inevitable wasn't it? Another manager loses his job and Larry is once again linked to the vacant position. This time Larry's been linked to the Leeds job with Sky Bet installing him as 4th favourite, however it would appear the Larry to Leeds link has been there for sometime and is a favourite among some of the Elland Road faithful.

A thread was started on The Football Networks "Unofficial Leeds united" site on the 3rd December. The author asked who would fans want to replace Gary McAllister if he was sacked. One user called SA said Grayson would be a "Reasonable and realistic candidate".

Another poster going under the guise of "Chaco" posted "Simon Grayson is a class manager...but i love Blackpool to much to wish him here".

Now McAllister has been sacked some Leeds fans will be rooting for Grayson's appointment and Online Betting Guide reckons Grayson may see the Leeds job as his "Dream appointment" and it's not hard to see why. Simon Grayson only has six months remaining on his current deal; which is likely to be renewed. However Simon Grayson started his career at Leeds United and only lives around the corner in Skipton.

Only time will tell if Larry will join Leeds but the majority of seasiders will want him to stay. Let us know what you think on our forum!

Chill out seasiders! 'Larry' as you call him is one of about 40 people being linked with us at the moment.... the rumours currently coming out of Elland Road are that it will be aidy Bothroyd with Gus Poyet as his assistant.

Here's some other quotes off the Leeds board for you..

Grayson has done a superb job at Blackpool, his brother Paul has also done a superb job on a shoestring at Essex cricket team and has played a major role in developing Bopara and Cook for the England team.

No chance of getting him - would be a brilliant appointment if we did - better than Boothroyd, Poyet, Davies etc - just won't happen as Bates won't pay compo

He is a brilliant manager! Worked miricles at my hometown club Blackpool. I don't want him to leave for a long time for the sake of the tangerines.

He got Blackpool up on a shoestring and kept them there. Very good young manager imo - would not be unhappy with him

I would be a glory supporter if I chose Blackpool over Leeds BF lol.
My Dad's a Leeds fan so he brought me up to support Leeds.
But I still go to Blackpool games when I'm home. Gotta support the home team tbh.

As quoted above, he'd be one of my top choices ahead of Poyet, Boothroyd etc. His record with Blackpool is brilliant IMO. However we have the tightest chairman in football who will not pay compo when he can get someone already out of work ...

Re: Simon Grayson; Next Leeds Manager
What do Blackpool fans think of him ?

I personally admire the job he has been doing at Blackpool with absolutely nothing and how he gets the best out of journeyman.

Im sure people would ask if he can stand the pressure of Leeds but that pressure is something I doubt if even Premiership managers could withstand .

The fact that he is willing to drop down a division , shows his ambition . From the little I ve seen of Blackpool , they seem like the horses for courses team and when Grayson replaced Hoolahan with Hammill , it said a lot about his beliefs in general as a Manager. Not willing to compromise on his ideologies ..

He is probably a dark horse amongst the candidates as we are always linked with high profile managers in vain . I'd rather take someone like him or Gary Johnson over most of the candidates than has-been-guys or will-be-guys like DoL , Poyet , Ince etc

Grayon's been there and done that , sounds good to me for STARTERS.
