Signs on
The first signing of the day was West Ham left winger Kyel Reid. Reid has been a regular on the Hammers bench so far this season, with his parent club taking advantage of the 7 may bench this season to give youth players some experience. Pool beat off interest from several Championship clubs for the temporary signing of the 21 year old, who has made 8 appearances for West Ham, and scoring one goal in the League Cup this season, against Blackpool's conquerers Macclesfield Town in a 4-1 win. He has had loan spells at Barnsley, where he made 26 appearances, scoring twice, and Crystal Palace, where he only managed 2 appearances.
Soon after the announcement of Reid, Blackpool released another name that had signed on. Liam Dickinson was made available by Derby after they managed to get Luke Varney from Charlton. A product of the Blackburn Rovers youth system, Dickinson signed professional terms at Trafford where he scored 12 goals in 43 appearances, before moving to Woodley Sports where he made 33 appearances, scoring 9 goals. His most successful and notable period came at Stockport County, where he made 94 appearances, scoring 33 goals, including 21 in their promotion campaign. This season he has already spent a successful loan stint at Huddersfield, where he partnered former Pool star Keigan Parker, and scored 6 in 13 games.
The final signing is the one that Pool fans are the most relieved by. Not so much the calibre of player, but the position. Goalkeeper Graham Stack signed from Plymouth at around 3 o'clock. A product of the Arsenal loan system, he was sent on 3 different loan spells, plaing 16 games for KSK Beveren, 26 for Millwall, and 1 for Reading, for whomhe signed at the end of that season. While at Reading, he spent a season long loan at Leeds in their relegation season, making 12 appearances, and then played 2 games in a loan the season after at Wolves. He was released by Reading and snapped up by Plymouth, after they lost Luke McCormick who has to spend his prison sentence. He has made 5 appearances for Plymouth, but found himself out of favour with Romain Larrieu reclaiming his place after Stack's poor form.
Only time will tell as to whether these signings will make a difference, with Dickinson and Reid expected to go straight into the squad to play Plymouth on Saturday.
