Blackpool mounted the most impressive performance of the season and became the first team to win at St Andrews and the first team to score thanks to a 47th minute goal from the right winger Gary Taylor-Fletcher.

With the final pies and pints being sunk down the match began and what a time we would be having. Birmingham kicked off and looked comfortable for the first half passing well and could have found a goal early on in the first half with Cameron Jerome shot off target and this maybe the signs of what Blackpool could expect and weren’t holding their breath except when Vaughan was on the ball who was sensational and has made me think, do we really need Hammill? Vaughan flew down the wing and with a combination of passes with Kabba, Burgess and GTF found his shot just bouncing off Maik Taylor’s gloves.

Half time came and a good performance with lots to talk about over a pint but by the time I knew I missed the goal and from the concourse it sounded like the Brummies have scored but I found out later it was us and found out from a guy it was GTF whole is amazing I soon downed the pint I and rejoined Rocky’s Mob and the faithful to insult the Brummies.

The goal then, after I saw the reply today, came in the 47th minute a string of passes including Kabba, Burgess and Vaughan found a pass to GTF who ran in and cheekily slotted the ball calmly into the corner.

Brum 0–1 The Mighty

Blackpool found out 4-4-2 actually works and Vaughan is actually good but soon they needed to see if the defence was up for it as Alex McLeish introduced Kevin Phillips to aid with James McFadden, Cameron Jerome and Marcus Bent. The same Phillips who when he came on last season for West Brom and scored twice and so nervous sunk in

Burgess shot was saved by Taylor as Blackpool threw on Zesh Rehman for GTF who was chanted of the pitch as Pool hung on for dear life and it came, the full time whistle went and Blackpool fans were jumping up and down as the players applauded the fans for making the trip.

Final Score – Brum 0-1 Blackpool

MOTM – Vaughan/GTF

Next Match – Coventry Sat 27th September 3:00pm

I was over the moon to see you had beat Brum to help us go three points clear at the top. Hope your lads keep up the good work and who knows maybe just maybe a play-off spot is not impossible.
