A long time ago...
The game was played to a crowd of 15,931 and ended Burnley's run of 10 games unbeaten against Blackpool FC at Bloomfield Road. However this was the first of three games in four days and Blackpool made just two changes from the side that had beaten Norwich.
Steve Harrison sat out injured, whilst Peter Hardcastle took his place. Dave Lennard returned to the side after recovering from an injury and Johnny Johnston was given a place on the bench.
Burnley say Dave Thomas and Frank Casper return to there starting eleven. The replaced Steve Kindon who had sustained injury in the previous game against Fulham, Whilst Arthur Bellamy was resigned to the bench,
Blackpool were going barmy after just two minutes! Alan Suddick took advantage of a mistake by the Burnley defence and bang! A goal for the mighty Seasiders.
Burnley had a chance moments later, Thomas escaped the marking of Peter Suddaby but failed to put the ball away. Instead he hit it over the cross bar but Blackpool were still on top even at this early stage.
Blackpool got a second, after Docherty conceded a corner kick. Burns took it and it found a waiting Dyson, who perfectly placed it in the back of the net, with his head.
Blackpool were going strong but where starting to allow Burnley back into the game. With Burrigde been forced to palm away a shot from Thomas. Burnley then had a penalty waved away for an alleged handball.
Shortly after the referee became a villain to the Blackpool fans also. He let a tackle from behind go un-punished, Burnley's Docherty took down Burns in an advancing position.
In the 35th Blackpool got there third goal. Burns and Suddick combining to create a chance for Lennord, however it went behind for corner. Hutchinson took the corner and it fell to Dyson who managed to stick his foot out in time to direct the ball to the back of the net.
A 4th was in before the half time whistle went, Hutchinson's shot rebounded into a crowd of players in the six yard box. But once again Dyson found the ball, smashing it into the roof of the net.

The second half saw Burnley get two back, The first come through Casper. He beat a Blackpool defender to the ball and then put the ball into the net to claw one back.
Blackpool started to become careless and often lost possession. But they did win a penalty which upset the Burnley players and fans alike. However the Suddick penalty was denied despite him trying to push it into the bottom corner.
In the 73rd minute, Burnley's, Probet fouled Hutchinson and was rewarded with a booking whilst moments later Blackpool nearly got a 5th. Dyson put the ball across goal only for Burns to get in a moment to late.
Burnley scored the 2nd thanks to a penalty by Caspar. Who had been pushed forward in a desperate bid to claw back into the game. Casper won the penalty after been jostled by three players in the area. He coolly smashed it home and the referee blew for time 7 minutes later.
