Rocky's Blog #2

Not so magic now!
By Rocky64 August 22 2008
Well another week another Blog! This week I'm going to talk about the loss of Wes Hoolahan, Norwich Away, Burnley Away, Fylde Coast Seasiders, I'll also talk about the new Debenhams and my hopes for Blackpool's regeneration, along with a novel idea, which may be controversial. We'll also talk about the new book I'm writing and much more!

Wes Hoolahan

I'm not going to come on and slag the player off to the high hill today. Instead I'm going to throw him a compliment, unlike Richie Wellens and other players who've left under a crowd at least he was still himself and not some obnoxious little Nazi.

We may have laid a bit of stick on him during the game, but he took it all in good faith and still applauded us at the end of the game, to which we obviously responded with a chorus of "Wesley Hoolahan,  Hoolahan". I think thats the best way to go about things when we come up against former players.

Personally, I think Wes will do well for Norwich however if they make the step up, I'm unsure he'll be able to. But he's still inexperienced at this level really and his game may come on over the next few years.

Norwich Away

Norwich Away was good fun, we went to this real ale pub. Although me not been a real ale nerd opted for the only normal beer, which happened to be Becks. A drink I still can't get to grips with, I can't tell if I like it or not.

Also whilst in Norwich we went to the chippy, now here is a warning to my fellow Northern Monkeys. Avoid the chip shops there not as you'd imagine! There freaks! We went into one near the pub, The woman obviously fancied me as well, then I went and embarrassed myself by asking for a sausage Barm.

She didn't know what I meant and I had to explain in Length how to make a sausage barm. We were treated like freaks, yet the sausage they put in my barm was battered? Who batters sausage for the barm? Don't get me started on when Luke asked for Gravy!

Burnley Away

I'm looking forward to this game, but why have these inbreds only sent us 1000 tickets? When was the last time we took less then 3000? It really is an insult to the tangerine army. But be sure ladies and gentleman, The Seasiders will be taking Burnley over once again and handing out another thrashing. The way there conceding these days is only good news for all our strikers who should be fit again by then.

Fylde Coast Seasiders

Big shout out to the FCS Crew! Norwich Away was by far the most fun I've ever had on an away day and of course a thank you to "The Plumber" for of course driving us safely to Timbuktu and beyond.

Debenhams! Why it's good for Blackpool!

I'm loving the new Houndshill and Debenhams, It's 75% complete with central outlets needing fitting out. But it has that WOW factor of the Trafford Centre and that's what will make Blackpool compete with the likes of Manchester. In teh winter now, people will come shop in the day and then go see the lights. Blackpool will feel the boost, but let's just hope the rest of Blackpool is regenerated in such away. Especially Central Drive and South Shore!

I've had an idea for regeneration round Cookson Street and The bus Station. Bascially we put a Nightclub, Stripclub, Massage palours, Head Shops and a Herbal Cafe there.

But the beauty of it is, you have it as a gated area, with police checking who's going in and out and taking details, searching etc. You then know where all the working girls are because there safe in this area, and people who don't want to be confronted by a strip club on there holidays can avoid it completly. But you have it all there and call it Amsterdam City and I bet Blackpool's night scene would clean up over night.

The idea isn't very Politically Correct, But Blackpool isn't. We need the stags and hens to fill our clubs yet need the families to fill the shops in the daytime. But the two things clash, with my idea they wouldn't, you could even run shuttle busses to and from the place.

My New Book

I've started work on a book this week, I can't reveal to much on here just yet but the book will be a must for all seasiders! Keep checking back week after week for updates on the book and extracts!
