Review vs Macc Town

Made full debut!
By Danny Reeds August 14 2008
Blackpool morale suffered a set back after a second defeat came at the hands of Macclesfield in the Carling Cup 1st Round beating the Seasiders 2-0. Both teams named strong sides but it wasn't enough for the seasiders who crashed out the cup in front of just 1500 people.

Blackpool come close with early chances from 3 consecutive corners but nothing to be gained and Burgess should of saw his goal in after a terrific free kick from Hammill onto Burgess’s head and almost crept in. Close but no cigar.

Macclesfield then broke away after some poor defending from Edwards a free kick fired in by Hessey with Brissley scoring.

MACCLESFIELD 1-0 BLACKPOOL (Halftime)

The second half got worse for Blackpool as 15 minutes in Southern got his first red card of his career after an alleged head butt on Dunfield. Dunfield as got sent of for hitting Southern and the teams were down to 10 each. Straight from this Gritton managed to send Macclesfield second in the net and put doom and gloom to Blackpool Cup hopes

MACCLESFIELD 2-0 BLACKPOOL (Fulltime)

So no dream of Derby or Spurs again for Blackpool but Macclesfield can dream of a 2nd round tie with West Ham after drawing them the other night. Blackpool now look forward to a Championship tie at Carrow Road against Norwich where they meet with Wes Hoolahan at 3:00pm

Top Player – Adam Hammill – 10/10 (skysports.com)
