Deluded and Ugly!
Parker who was frozen out for large parts of the season told the paper "I didn't play much and only started eight or nine games last season. It wasn't due to football matters, more to do with the fact that I didn't sign a new contract. That's what happens at clubs where you don't sign one."
Parker was constantly in the headlines for his off the field behaviour. Arrested for drink driving, allegedly been in fights, smashing up brothels and most interestingly he did the dirty with Big Brothers Big Blubba Jade Goody! However it was his refusal to sign a contract ultimately that left him frozen out. Something which Parker believes could have been handled better.
He said "The people at Blackpool didn't deal with it in the right way. They got offered £250,000 in August from Swansea and they never took it, whereas they knew I wasn't signing a new contract then. If they are going to lose someone at the end of the season, why not take the 250 grand and just move on?"
Talking about last January's transfer window when he was linked to numerous clubs the fiery Scot said "It came to January and they got offered 100-odd thousand from Swansea, but were wanting £200,000 and there were only six months of my contract to go. And Barnsley were the only team that came in with that."
He then went into details about why he refused Barnsley but signed for Huddersfield. He said "I felt at the time it was a sideways step. They were struggling at the time and it was just before they did well in the FA Cup. I could have gone there and played at Liverpool and got in the semi-final of the FA Cup."
He then went on to say that Huddersfield are bigger then both Barnsley and Blackpool and had a dig at our two sided ground. The Swine!
He said "I wasn't to know that and I think Huddersfield are, to be fair, are a bigger club than Barnsley and Blackpool as well. I think they've sold around 3,500 season tickets, while the ground has only got two sides."
One things for sure I'm not half glad to see the back of him. Fact is Parker, Blackpool are bigger then Huddersfield. We play in a higher division and Huddersfield only have so many season ticket sales thanks to them been discounted. Good luck with playing in obscurity because you could never make it at this level anyway.
