Former Seasider wants return?

Clarke for Pool!
By Rocky64 June 7 2008
Southend United recently transfer listed former Seasider Peter Clarke, after they felt; he along with other players were trying to hold the Roots Hall club to "ransom". But news of his transfer listing has led to him been linked to a move back to Bloomfield Road, which has caused a mixed reaction on the Tangerine-Planet message board's.

But speaking to the Blackpool Gazette, Clarke described how he "had unfinished business at Blackpool". Clarke aged 26, left Blackpool to join then Championship side Southend for a fee of £250,000. However the timing of his move was slightly out and he left us on the verge of the season. With some fans calling him a "Judas".

Although Clarke believes he had a good relationship with the fans of the club when he was here. He said "I had a great relationship with the fans when I was at Blackpool, and if some of them are saying they would like to see me back that is brilliant."

Whether Grayson will make a move for Clarke is unknown but Clarke was keen to stress he has unfinished business at Blackpool, which some may see as a "Come and get me" message for Simon Grayson.

He said"Larry (manager Simon Grayson) may have other ideas about that, and we will only find out in the course of time whether it comes about or not. But what I will say is that I feel I still have unfinished business at Blackpool."

Speaking on Blackpool promotion he said. "The club got promoted to the Championship and I was not there to be a part of it, but I thought it was brilliant for the lads and the fans."

Clarke finally explained how his transfer listed status came about. He explained "I was on holiday when I found out on Thursday, I still have one year left on my contract and the club wanted me to sign an extension for a further 12 months. I said I didn't want to sign for another year at this stage, and then I found out I was being put on the transfer list with two other first-team players. I find it all a bit strange but I suppose these things happen in football"

I remember Larry having a meeting with Clarkey last year and I wondered then whether he'd re-sign for us. I still think he could do a good job for us.

To be honest, and I can already hear Mac shouting at me because I said we shouldn't get former players, but I reckon he might be able to do a job for us.

He is going on the cheap, he is desperate to come, and if Gorkss goes then I believe he would be a sufficient replacement, and with Broomes backing him up to keep him and Evatt on their toes, he may be ok.

Glad that Ian Evatt is now being touted as our senior centre half now, after people, including those on this site, said he should be dropeed. Anyone think that now?

Who said that about Evatt, Paddy?

And it was a bit pointless saying you didnt want former players back and now admitting you would have two back! (Sm6)

If we can, id prefer an established championship CB over Clarke as it would be a big gamble.

Who was the second one that I said I would have, my memeory is slightly selective.

This is proved because I remember Wolf, Steve and Rocky ALL saying towards the end of the year that Evatt should be dropped and that Jackson and Gorkss should play together.

Point Proven, as I said stick him in, as he has been outstanding for us.

errm actually Claire, Southend offered Clarke a contract with better terms so to me that means that they actually would liked to have kept him.

Now forgive me if i'm wrong and especially the fact that you are little miss know-all.

Would you like me to post the link for you?

Also good to know that you have studied all Southend's games over the past couple of years?

Get real woman. (Sm127)

Fair enough Sam, I'll admit to that.
