Thieving Barstool
Already some fans including myself have been forced to reconsider there status as a season ticket holder due to the hikes. But match day prices are equally as unforgiving and stand at £24 a game.
The news dubbed a "slap in the face" in one angry email I received today, came as the players of the season awards took place. However only those who had sponsored the club in some capacity received tickets to attend. Leaving thousands who wanted to attend and show there appreciation locked out.
An idea which had been suggested but not taken up was hiring a bigger conference facility and charging for tickets and allowing sponsors better seats, a meal and a free ticket. This could easily be done at the Grand Theartre or on the pier. But no the club decided to host it at Bloomfield Road and exclude fans who have spent thousands traveling up and down the country to cheer on the Seasiders.
Back onto the season ticket debate and you have to say, with only two stands the club can charge what they want for the seats. Although it's unfair there is thousands locked out and this ensures only those with money get a seat. Although the reality is, we will now lose a huge percentage of younger supporters who won't be able to get the money together for the ticket. With tickets at Bolton, Blackburn, Preston and Burnley been cheaper, we're only turning people to support them.
Extension work will now go ahead on the away stand and there is talk of building a temporary south stand. Which although would be a compromise, would probably go down in bad taste at this moment in time as fans struggle to come to terms with the new pricing scheme.
If you have a view on the price increase let us know via our forum, the best views will be chosen to be published on the site over the next few weeks.
