Plymouth hit Pool for 3

Made Mistakes
By Seaside Steve April 28 2008
Having spent the weekend in a hotel not fit for dogs in Torquay but at £25 a night you can't complain. Something I could complain about was the football I had traveled so many hundred miles to see. Not only was it dire but it took the gloss off a not so great weekend for me.

Larry decided to put Kaspars at left back, it didn't work last time he tried it and it still doesn't work now. Jacko and Evatt on paper looks decent. But Jacko got done for pace throughout. Gary Taylor-Fletcher sat out for some strange reason perhaps he's injured I don't know. Anyway Stuart Green took his place.

Personally he should of let Morrell play there and pushed into a 4-3-3 movement when attacking Coid should of played at left back. He hasn't let us down all season and didn't during his 20 minutes here. Sadly Larry get it wrong and all the money invested in this weekend seemed wasted upon getting home.

The first half started with a goal and it really set the tone for the rest of the game. A cross wasn't cleared properly and Jermaine Easter fired it home. A simple move and a simple goal and the afternoon went down hill from here.

Just before I go on with the rest of the report may I just say well done on all those in fancy dress. It looked great, I wanted to go as Darth Vader but the shop didn't have my size in.

Blackpool had a great chance after about 20 minutes. Southern headed the ball over after a bit of magic from Wes Hoolahan in the build up to the shot. He not only earned us a corner but then beat a few of there lot and unleashed an inch perfect cross. Ironic really,  the few games he's displayed some magic in this season have usually been defeats.

I went for a pi** after this thinking it'll be OK we're just getting back into it and as-per-usual as I exited the bog there's a goal. Not for us though, all I saw as i got back onto the stand was this corner floating over and then been fired in by Fallon, with a more then precise header.

Things appeared to get better as we forced to corners towards the death of the first half. However they were to come to nothing and the half-time talking point was how did Fallon managed to remain unmarked. At this point a draw would have been took but as my missus said "We'll be lucky not to concede five".

Ten minutes into the second half I thought this was it, she's going to be right. Rory Fallon again got a goal, leading to numerous chairs been kicked in frustration and a collective tirade of swear words. But we were soon back to cheering along out team. But the third goal had killed us off, Rory Fallon's second header to beat Rachukuba.

The formation kept changing soon after, Morrell came on as did Burgess. Green and Jacko went off. 3-5-2 perhaps? Well until we reverted to 4-4-2 ten minutes later in a move that confused everybody in the ground.

Despite further onslaught and torment we managed to keep hold of  the score and didn't let it deteriorate to the point where we scored five.

In a game where we needed a win to keep us up and keep safety in our own hands. Larry blundered and over tinkered, hopefully he will learn from it. Although hugely successful he's still making rookie mistakes and teams in this division will take advantage of that.

Plymouth 3 Blackpool 0
