Paddy's Preview! Pool vs Wednesday

Maybe Dropped!
By Paddy April 18 2008
The crunch game of the season approaches, the one we have all been saying “If we win, we stay up. If we lose we go down”. The blue half of the steel city will send the troops into battle at Bloomfield Road, after a draw against Plymouth. Tommy Spurr’s fantastic goal earned Wednesday their 7th draw in a row, and Blackpool have picked the wrong time to fall out of form.

Blackpool’s main fitness worry is Claus Jorgensen, who missed the poor defeat to Cardiff with a tight hamstring, and he could return to partner the excellent Southern, who was one of the few players to come out of the game in Wales with any credit. Another man pushing for a starting place is Andy Morrell, who finally broke an annoying duck last week, which was his first goal since October. With Morrell hopefully firing them in again, this could be his chance to stake a claim for a place in the starting 11 on Saturday, partnering McPhee. However, it is likely that the former Coventry man will have to make do on the bench, with Burgess, Dickov and McPhee all likely to be picked ahead of him.

Likely Line-Up:

Rachubka

Barker © Evatt Gorkss Crainey

Taylor-Fletcher Southern Jorgensen Hoolahan

McPhee Burgess

Subs: Flinders (GK), Coid, Flynn, Morrell, Dickov

Sheffield Wednesday could be without their star striker Deon Burton for the clash at Blackpool, as the striker took a nasty blow to the eye on Monday night. This means that it could pave the way for former Pool loanee Bartosz Slusarski to start for his new club, and he will look to use his power and strength to cause Pool problems if he plays.

Likely Line Up:

Grant

Gilbert Wood © Beevers Spurr

Johnson O’Brien Bolder Small

Sahar Burton
