What midfielders should we keep?

No Seats but one vote!
By Rocky64 April 18 2008
With the Bafta's this weekend we decided it was time to deliver our latest poll results. You've been voting for a little while longer then usual as we forgot we had the poll running. But you voted in your masses once again to cast verdict on what midfielders should remain at the club.

The obvious choice to vote for retention was the Magical Wes Hoolahan. The Irish midfielder is currently wanted by a host of clubs because of his ability, talent and performances. So it was no wonder that 36.17% of you; want the midfielder to stay.

However in my opinion it's unlikely he will stay and i do believe that if he does leave others will step up to the plate or Larry will bring in another midfield magician.

Kieth Southern scored 10% of the votes. Of course he was the only player to try against Cardiff so it's no surprise here that we all want him to stay. In my opinion he has been the total package this year and previously i wasn't a fan. But he has stepped up this season and as long as he stays away from injury he will once again be an important player for us.

Gary Taylor-Fletcher and Claus Jorgenson are proving equally as popular. A combined 34.04% of you voted we should retain the pair. Jorgenson although not a favorite of mine has done well. Although I still believe we can get better, but I find myself agreeing he is a decent player to retain and we could perhaps get another year out of him.

GTF came here with warning labels attached. Huddersfield fans where over-keen to point out his weakness but to me it was them showing there anguish over losing such a great player. This season, especially the second half, he has been phenomenal.

Micheal Flynn took away 6.38% of the vote. He had a good run over Christmas but could he do it over a full season given a chance? One things for sure, he'll probably be here next season and he is a decent squad player. Accommodating Southern and Flynn  in the same side will be hard though.

Shockingly David Fox picked up 0% of the vote, I imagine his absence has faded the memory of how good he can be. However he failed to make the grade for me this year but he is still young. I'd like to see him remain but if he leaves I won't be bothered and neither will you the readers by the looks of the results.

Welsh, Green, Bean and Kay all scored 2.13& of the vote. I'm assuming everyone wants to see what Kay can do. Hopefully he's nearing the first team and will soon be given a chance. Currently recovering from injury he hasn't been as great as once thought for the reserves. But that's playing under Parkinson and he played his best under Grayson. So what I'm getting at is Grayson is the man to get the best out of him.

Green is another we haven't seen much of, perhaps Grayson has reservations about his fitness. He's another that I wouldn't be bothered about if they left. Marcus Bean is doing nothing here and clearly not in Grayson's plans. Lets get rid please! Welsh needs more time to prove himself, with Wes maybe leaving, maybe he will prove himself next year.

Another 0% vote went for Joe Martin although impressive in the games hes took part in, he hasn't yet done enough to win your vote so maybe he's another that we could afford to lose.

Finally Micheal D'Agostino got 4.26% of the vote. Which to me shows how well we know the player without actually seeing him play. He's had several man of the match awards presented to him during his loan spell at Cheletenham Town.

Simon Grayson has already stated that he'll be around the first team next season if his form continues. So out of a season which could turn horrible wrong in the next few games at least we have something to look forward to next season.

This week, we're asking which defenders at the club you think we should retain. So happy voting and lets have your opinion on our forum!

What? Are you the same guy who thought Parker was a good player. Compared to Hoolahan he doesn't come anywhere near Wes's ability. Admittedly he's not had the same impact as last season but he still has the ability to open defences up and his attitude can't be faulted.(Sm137)
