What a pair of bitches!

War of Words
By Rocky64 April 18 2008
Fight! Fight! Fight! Thats right a bitch fight has broke out between Blackpool manager Simon Grayson and Wednesday boss Brian Laws ahead of the big relegation showdown this Saturday. So in the tangerine corner, weighing in with a play off winners medal it's Simon "Larry" Grayson and in the blue and white corner. Brian "The Owl" Laws. DING DING DING

The fall out comes following Brian Laws recent comments in the Sheffield Star. He told the paper that he thought Blackpool couldn't handle the pressure of a relegation fight especially when it comes to playing there relegation rivals.

He said "Everybody was saying Blackpool were safe – now they've come into it from nowhere. They have not won in eight games. Are they looking nervous? Can they handle the pressure?"

Talking about his side he said "We've been handling the pressure quite well. I've told the players to keep their nerve and I think they will because they are so used to being in this situation."

Simon Grayson today hit back at Laws he told the Blackpool Gazette, " We've coped with tough times before and always come through. There is pressure for a lot of people now, not just us.
I think there is more pressure on the big teams below us, like Coventry, Leicester, Southampton and Sheffield Wednesday."

Talking about the sides he'd just mentioned he stressed that they had spent more money and will be panicking more then Blackpool. He said "They have spent far more money than we have. We were expected to be in the bottom three and get relegated – they weren't. My players have always responded to pressure, defeat or criticism and I expect the same tomorrow."

Meanwhile defender Ian Evatt has claimed that tomorrows game is not crucial and defeat tomorrow would not mean relegation. He told the Blackpool Gazette. "OK, a lot's been made of Sheffield Wednesday game and I can understand why but if you look at it as a mini-league down at bottom, we are top of it."

He added "So if we don't win on Saturday it's not the end of the world. There are still two games after that and the teams below us all have to win because they all have less points than us. So as long as we can carry on nicking points we'll be fine and up until last week we'd been really good at doing that."
