Yet Another Draw!

Impressive Again.
By Seaside Steve March 22 2008
Well it was a trip to staffordshire today to see the Seasiders take on Stoke City. Blackpool may have won this game had a late first half chance go in. But this game although entertaining will be remembered for the traffic problems on the way. In the words of Lou from Little Britain "What a kefufal".

The draw leaves Blackpool a point off local rivals Preston North End to give those tits at the other end of the M55 some bragging rights for the moment. Blackpool were unchanged but Grant Holt was named as one the substitutes, after signing from League 1 club Nottingham Forest.

Anyway kick off was delayed thanks to some unthoughtful beggar causing a six car pile up. However I do hope those involved are okay, even though they caused massive delays for us 'pool fans and in fact the team. Who aparently got caught up in accident aswell, as did the referee.

Stoke are a good team and a point against these would have been considered a decent result; prior to kick off. However as the game unfolded it became clear that 'pool could have won it and maybe should have took three points.

I was lucky enough to have got to my seat before kick off, however only just, no drinking time. Other seasiders weren't as lucky and possibly could have missed an early Stoke goal. However there player failed to find the net after a build up which included a series of long throws. Which impressed me, Stoke now how to utilise there throws where we seem to miss them.

Anyone remember the Tony Butler goal from a Marc Joseph throw in some years ago? We need to utilise our long throwers to cause danger more often. It could bring us a few more goals.

Stoke had the chance to score again soon after but failed yet again. Evatt clearing the ball from goal.

GTF should have scored quickly after that, but Carlos Nash the exnobber blocked it. Yet again it was Wes who linked up with Taylor-Fletcher, which I think has been very effective at times this season and led to mant of Taylor-Fletcher's goals.

After some good defensive play by Blackpool; McPhee nearly put us one ahead. Getting on the end of a poor back pass. Blackpool finally broke the deadlock through Ben Burgess on 38 minutes. He latched on to a McPhee ball and fired it home. We should have been 2-0 up soon after when Evatt got a blinding chance. But it fell the wrong side of the post.

Half Time Stoke 0 Blackpool 1

Minutes into the second half, with me still munching into a bag of crisps Stoke got a goal through Leon Cort. We failed to get rid of the ball and the inevitable happened. Fletcher should have equalised immediatley after. But he headed a Wes cross over the bar.

Barker made us all crap ourselves when he headed over, I thought it might of done in, but he knew what he was doing. But it shouldn't have come to that. We just fell asleep the throw come in and caused us allsorts of problems.

With five to go Holt come on and ended his career record of scoring on his debut for all of his English clubs. Five mins was not long enough especiall as we were under the cosh. Luckily Jorgenson headed the ball off the line, finishing off a good game for him.

Final Score Stoke 1 Blackpool1
