Away Stand a Disgrace- Seaside Polls results

Seaside Polls!
By rocky64 March 21 2008
Last week in our Seaside Polls we asked if you were embarrassed by the facilities we give our away fans. It was a landslide result, in which loads of you voted and the majority of you agreed with the verdict. That the stand is embarrassing so we have an idea, how to improve it, with out spending to much money!

81.21% of you, voted "Yes" to say they were embarrassed and it's hardly a surprise. Having had the privilege to be in that stand I can tell you from personal experience it's not nice.

We'll start with the stand itself, it's open to the elements, you are going to get wet if it rain's there is no avoiding it. Plus because it's wood, it's sort of like buckled making it hard to stand or walk along the aisles and because it's buckled it fills with rain. Therefore there is massive puddles all they along meaning your feet are going to get wet.

The view from the top is rather scary, although there is a barrier there, i can see some drunken idiot  falling off the back of it. Because that top row is not to be stood upon, your supposed to be sat down. But because everyone is stood up and low steepness of the stand, if you sit down you won't be able to see the game.

Then there's the bogs! At least these are inside; actually to Be fair the only problem is there not big enough resulting in massive queues of people wanting a tinkle at half time.

The catering is very poor, it's a burger van that would have Jillian McKieth or Jamie Oliver having a fit. But football fans will eat anything and at least they get chips. But for £18 or however much it is to go and sit in the away end, If I supported another championship team, I wouldn't be coming.

That's what we've seen this year, teams who should bring a full stand and more; are bring 800. If we put a roof on that stand the attendances of away fans would improve. Especially in winter when nobody wants to be there.

It may be funny to see the fans get wet through and fall through the stand. But in all seriousness a roof would pay for itself and bring in more money to the club. We should aim to deliver the best service to those who are coming to football, not only because it's good for us but it's good for the town; as there is the possibility these fans may make the weekend of it.

I think one of the reasons we don't have a roof is that the chairman knows if the away stand is full every week then there would be a case for building the south.

Just some food for thought, got something to say? Let us know on the forum! Meanwhile in this week's Seaside Poll's you which players from the attack, should the club retain the services of.
