Speaking post match to the Blackpool Gazette he said "Inside I am a little bit disappointed because I felt that the first half performance warranted the three points and over the 90 minutes we looked like the only team that was going to win the game – and yet we didn't."
Blackpool were forced to attack the home fans during the first half. A tactic that has not been employed this employed. Usually the Seasiders attack the south end first, but after losing the toss where forced to change. Which may explain the lack of bang in the second half.
Grayson said "It's a shame because the atmosphere was brilliant. When you are attacking your home fans and you put the opposition under as much pressure as we did it is bound to be brilliant and that's what we did."
He added "We got on the front foot, we created chances and the home crowd were willing the ball into the back of the net but we couldn't quite do it. But what I am pleased about is that we didn't get beaten.
Speaking on the desire for neither team to lose he said. "It was a game that we definitely didn't want to lose because it would have meant Preston going above us. Preston, on the other hand, were desperate not to get beat because it would have meant we would have pulled away from them a bit more and got closer to survival."
Grayson also reckons there will be another derby come next season. He said "But if both clubs can keep picking up points and inching their way upwards then it will be great and this time next year we will be playing each other again."
Shaun Barker also spoke following the big game, he said "I think because both teams are so close in the league and in a relegation scrap it was always going to be tight," he added, When you are down there and battling for points it is always going to be tense, especially in a derby."
Speaking to the Blackpool Gazette about the draw he said "The first half was open, but the second half it closed up a little and no one wanted to make that mistake that might cost them. Maybe we should have gone out and been a little more positive but it's tough when you get to the last few games of the season and you just need that one more win to make sure you are secure."
Like Grayson; Barker is equally dissapointed that Blackpool didn't get the win. "I am a little disappointed we didn't win because I thought first half we played some good stuff and got the ball down well. We caused them problems in the air and had a few more chance than they did. Their keeper made a couple of good saves."
Barker admitted Preston made it hard for Blackpool come the second half. He said "In the second half it was a lot more difficult. They made it hard for us and showed why they are picking up points at the moment. But I thought defensively we were pretty solid and we really limited them chances-wise.
Barker reckons a goal in the first half could of see the seasiders get the win but a draw isn't a bad result. He said "At home we have got to maybe get that early goal if possible and I thought that if we had got a goal first half it would have given us a great chance of going on and winning the game. But at the end of the day it's another point on the tally, it keeps us above Preston, so I don't think a point is such a bad result."
