Part 2 to Time to Go...

You are the weakest link
By Rocky64 March 1 2008
On Thursday we gave you our opinion on who we should show the exit door to, from the list of 'keepers and defenders at the club. Tonight we give you our opinion on the midfielders and attackers at the club and ultimatley who should be shown the exit door and told the dreaded words "your fired".

Wiles, Hoolahan, Welsh, Gary Taylor-Fletcher, D'Agostino

It's time for Wiles to go in my opinion, yeah he might have some ability and did show promise under Colin Hendry. But since his injuries he's been nowhere near the first team and i'm sorry to say he needs to leave to further his career and to free up wages from our point of view.

Hoolahan is a player we must withold, he may not be worth as much as Kaspars but he is still a valuable asset to us and at his age that will only rocket further. Another season in this league will set him up well, but we must try and extend his contract as soon as possible. A five year deal will ensure we secure millions upon his sale.

Andy Welsh, is one for the future perhaps; i'd give him one more season at the seaside to show us what he can do. He was in the Sunderland first team during there promotion season, so I don't doubt his talent. But he needs to show more effort and is still a valuable squad player.

GTF, is a player we must retain, he's a good player and alway likley to nick a goal. I'd like to see him play upfront more often, but feel comfortable with him on the right. He ain't a world beater but he gives 100% and produces decent crosses at times and is a good creator of goals.

D'Agostino, must be given a chance next season. To many man of the match performances for Cheltenham have proved that. Larry signed him for a reason and now it's time to stand by that signing and give him a chance.

Bean, Southern, Green, Flynn, Jorgenson, Fox, Kay

I'll start by saying bye bye to Marcus Bean, he's obviously not in Larry's plans but still commands a big wage. It's a shame he's not in the gaffa's plans but obvious if those rumours which we will not mention are true. He was a big player for us, in Larry's battle to keep us up when he first took charge but has fallen out of favour and it's now time to go.

Southern need's to be retained, he's a big player for us and our form suffer's without him. People often talk of Richie Wellens been our best central midfielder over the last decade but I have to disagree it's Kieth Southern by a mile. Defensivley he immense and his attacking game has improved ten-fold this season.

Stuart Green, will be retained needs fitness before becoming a top player for us which I have no doubt he will. Micheal Flynn should also stay, he's a good squad player, looks likley to score when in the first team and has avery good attitude. Time to go also for Claus Bech Jorgenson Tra La lalala.

He's had his last crack at the big time and apart the christmas period he has looked average at best. He lacks a yard of pace and is to lighweight to succeed and I hate the way he shirks out of tackles, makes clumsy mistakes and often falls over. He like many others is a league 1 player with championship tendencies and i'm afraid it's time to go.

David Fox is another one I don't get. One minute he's Zidane, the next it's all gone Richard Forsyth, he's really inconsistant but thats due to inexperience at this level. (not even played 100 pro games yet!) However another season with us and he may come good, he has the skills just needs to clam down on the ball and show some consistancy. It would also help if he could direct his shots at the goal more often. His goal against Forest was memorable and one of my all time favourites however he needs to show that goal scoring touch more often.

Matty Kay, needs to be loaned out he need's first team experience at a decent level before he can become a decent player for us. He's 19 this year and has more or less finished his physical development, however he reamin lighweight and could do with gaining a stone or two. I believe he will quality player for us, but he needs expereince elsewhere first.

Morrell, Dickov, Burgess, McPhee, Parker, Marsh, Mitchley

Let's start with Morrell, sentiments out the way he was a cracking player for us last season. But that's in the past, get over it fact is all he's done this season is collect a wage. Some say he did well at the start of the season, but we were poor then and a pale immitation of what we are now. Personally I think he should leave and join a team like Tranmere helping them to promotion then retiring. Better to retire on a high, then be remembered as a failure at a level you couldn't grasp.

Onto Paul Dickov, who like Morrell is ageing but still has the ability to find the goal and earn his salary. He's a big player for us and others can only from him. He will be one of the main factors of our survival this season and should be given a contract next season. Whether he would sign up to playing his vintage years in a rusting two sided ground I do not know.

Ben Burgess has proved everybody wrong and should be retained because of it. He score's goal's, creates them and is a terrific forward, My main issue with hin is that he's a big built brick shit house but still can't seem to head the ball he needs to stay on his feet more as well under pressure. But a good player to have in the squad and will always do well.

Stephen McPhee will obviously be retained, a 300k signing will not be released on a free thats just stupid. I believe that he will be a great player for us and if he tries to learn Dickov's style then he can only go on to perform at a higher level and score plenty of goals. A great signing who is starting to come good at the right time.

Da Da Da Kiegan good bye, a pathetic role model for young supporters. Smashing up brass houses and getting done for drink driving isn't what we want younger supporters to see. Then we have his on field performances which have stank this season and i'm afraid to say after showing so much promise it's time for him to go. In fact i'll pull the trigger myself.

Same goes for Marsh, I've seen him play for the reserves and he's a right porker who will never make it at this level. I'm afraid to say Larry's performed a boob in signing him, wasting valuable wages. The Man United tag may seem impressive but don't forget Ben Thornley had it to.

Finally there's Mitchley, who when i've seen playing for the reserves he's always done well. He's a natural young scorer and needs to be retained. No doubt Larry will give him his chance when we are safe. The main thing is not to let a true goal scorer out of our hands like we did with Sean Patterson.
