What players should be shown the exit?

Use the Exit! Your Fired
By Rocky64 February 28 2008
I was browsing The Football Network recently, when I came across an article on the Liverpool site suggesting who they should get rid of this summer, and this got me thinking. All of a sudden I went into Alan Sugar mode and discovered there is one or two at the seaside who i'd happily show the exit door and tell them the dreaded words "Your Fired".

Rachubka, Gerrard, Edge, Stienbours

Rachukuba is a great 'keeper, okay he's prone to concede when balls come across the face of goal. But if Evatt or Gorkks could cover the far post at set plays we'd concede a lot less. For me he has to stay as does Paul Gerrard the on loan man is proven at Premiership level and still has what it takes to be a good player. We need to retain his services as he is a good squad player and a much safer option the Lewis Edge.

I'm going to upset a few when I say Lewis it's time to go! If he was as good as people say he was he would have been given a chance last season, instead he mysteriously broke his finger in training and Joe Hart came in on loan. To be honest it wouldn't suprise me if Grayson got the hammer out and broke the finger himself. No one feel's comfortable when he plays, it's like every save is an achievement and it shouldn't be. Also Kyle Clancy has over took him in the reserves which says alot. So let's get rid!

Stienbours, I haven't seen play and I think Grayson hasn't seen enough of him yet to make a decision. Which is why he is here to then end of the season. An extended trial in my eyes. I won't cast an opinion until i've seen him play so another trip to the reserves is in order.

Crainey, Hills, Tierney

Crainey has been immense and is the sort of player we need at this club, pure quality and should be retained. As should Hills, i'm not his biggest fan but he's done well when he's featured in the first team and he's a good player to have at the club. He's a fan after all and his passion and enthusiasm can only rub off on others.

Tierney can go, he wasn't good enough for league 1 so he won't be good enough in this league. Sorry Paul Time to go.

Jackson, Evatt, Gorkks, Doughty, Lawler, Metcalfe.

Action Jackson has been immense again this season but his old legs are starting to show. However I genuinely believe he has something to offer the club still, whether it's on the pitch or the training ground. Personally, I want to see him take on a player coach role. He's a great role model and someone who could benefit the youngsters at the club.

Ian Evatt has been poor since his injury, Now i'm not having ago but with the possibility of a move for Peter Clarke in the summer he need's to watch his step. How many poor performances can we actually afford, time to step up Ian and reclaim the form we saw last season and early this year. However some may argue his weaknesses are now showing in a strong team whos on form, i tend to disagree but think he's off par.

Gorkks has to stay but his numerous admirers scare me, the likes of Everton will get there man if they really want him and in my opinion we have a five million pound player here and if we are ambitious we need to retai (and maybe sign his brothers).

Doughty, Lawler and Meltcalfe should be given one more season to show they have what it takes to perform at this level and push for the first team. They've shown ability at reserve level but now is the time to set up.

Barker, Coid

Barker again needs to stay at the club, I would favour him moving to centre back and us maybe signing Bobby Hassal to go right back. However Barker is again one of the player of the season and continues to develop as a player.

Now I don't get the whole Coid fetish that a certain section of our support have, to many people rate him on terms of loyalty rather then skill and ability. This is stupid and just because he's coming upto the end of a decade at the club it doesn't mean he's good enough. But as with Hills, He's proven himself when required this season and should be retained for that reason. A good squad player.

Tune in tommorow for our opinion on the midfielders at the club. In the meantime let us know what you think on our message board and if you wish to write an article on this subject or maybe another email tangerine.planet@hotmail.co.uk

I can't understand the people who want Hills to go after his performances this season, especially with him not playing much.
