Goal-Bretter
Ormerod, 31, has netted once in nine starts for Preston this season and has made a further eleven appearances as a substitute.
The club’s new number 18 made his mark at Blackpool, where he buried 62 goals in 124 appearances before clinching a £1.75m move to Southampton.
After appearing in an FA Cup final for the then-Premiership Saints Ormerod fell out of favour and had loan spells with Wigan and Leeds before joining Preston.
He is expected to go straight into the side to face Crewe Alexandra, as Will Hoskins spends more time on the sidelines.
Hoskins was said to be nearing full fitness last week, but boss Calderwood now expects him to be on the treatment table for longer.
Forest are also without Nathan Tyson, whose injury is also said to be less of a problem than first feared.
The Reds had been linked to out-of-favour Wolves forward Freddy Eastwood, whilst Ormerod himself was reportedly considering a move to League Two’s Morecombe.

After
a few quick phone calls it’s clear that the verdict from Preston fans is
generally positive. We can expect a player with commendable work rate, and
plenty of talent.
North End fan Anthony Brockbank said: “You will love him. He grafts his balls off and he does know where the onion bag is.
“I’m not sure how he hasn’t featured for us this season. He was a regular last season when we were chasing promotion, but there you go.”
Sometimes a skilled playmaker, always a hard worker, but in recent years not much of a goalscorer.
Will this be enough as Forest cling to the fading dream of automatic promotion?
