Black Cats to open Bent talks

By The Black Cats
July 3 2009

It has been reported that Sunderland will be opening talks with Tottenham Hotspur striker Darren Bent early next week. Bent has been linked with Sunderland in almost every transfer window in the last couple of years, and has once again being linked to Sunderland after striker Djibril Cissé' departure.

The arrival of new boss Steve Bruce – along with billionaire Ellis Short’s outright takeover of the Drumaville consortium – has altered the perception of the club among players, who no longer consider Sunderland as perennial Premier League strugglers, backed up by the side's third consecutive season in the top flight.

Kenwyne Jones has once again been linked with Harry Redknapp's side, and it is thought that he may propose a swap deal.
