Young: Sunderland will be a test

Luke Young believes Villa’s winning run will face a stern examination at Sunderland on Saturday. Villa are this Saturday's visitors to the Sunderland Stadium of Light and are on a roll having gone nine games unbeaten, but Sunderland have won three and drawn two of Ricky Sbragia’s six games in charge, and are currently unbeaten at home under the new manager, with their only defeat coming at Everton

“They need to pick up points and they’ll be looking to do that against us,” said Young.

“The are enjoying the fruits of ‘new manager syndrome’ – their results have picked up since Ricky Sbragia came in.

“They probably under-achieved beforehand, because they have got good players in their squad.

“The Stadium of Light is always a difficult place to go to, because of the crowd. It is always loud and they get behind them so it will be a tough game.”

When asked if he thinks he'll receive any stick after his time at local rivals 'Boro:“I only had a year at Boro, so I suppose it depends how the game goes,” he said.

“I enjoyed my time up there. But they beat Boro on their ground and we only drew at ours.”
